Hello from West Wales
« on: February 24, 2010, 09:00:09 AM »
Hello, I'm Keith, username Mooncat.  I've been making and mending things for as long as I can remember.  I haven't a project on the go at present, as I'm working on my final project at university (probably the oldest undergrad in town!).  My long-term project is a electrically powered paddle catamaran suitable for use on narrow canals, though I plan to build a scale model of it first.  I've learned a lot here about the design and dimensioning of the feathering paddle wheel which will be between the hulls.  I'll be back here often, before I can get down to cutting wood and metal.

Welcome from me as well. I'm just down the road from you in Newport, so if you fancy a cup of tea, give us a call.

You've found the right club :beer

Thanks for the offer of tea, I'm in south Ceredigion so not too far.  My parents used to live in Newport, my dad was a model boat builder there.

OK I'm back, college work all handed in, so I'm sorting everything out that has been neglected for too long.  My Dad has given me his Dremel Moto Scroll saw, as he is past model-making now, so I'm doing a bit of practice cutting to get the hang of it.  I have some thin ply, so I'll be getting on with some detail drawings.
