Ship fittings

A series of cuttings taken from various publications that give details of the fittings used on ships during the 19th and early 20th century.

This first one deals with tug fittings, some of which are believed to have been taken from the tug Cambria or Anglia.

This second sheet deals with the funnels that were fitted to various paddle steamers...

These can all be found in the book 'Famous Paddle Steamers' by F C Hambleton (I bought one on ebay!)
I have been taking pictures of fittings at every (not that frequent) opportunity over the last couple of years, if anyone would like to see.....

Hi Mick. This first lot were all done by FC Hambleton in a 50 part article in Model engineer in1943-44 and there are Many items which could not be included in his book otherwise it would have run to four volumes! I have a lot of similiar little cuttings taken from Sea Breezes (1920s-30s) Ships and ship models (mid 30s onwards) as well as several other pre war publications. In total there will be about 10-12 sheets or more. regards, Walter

Famous Paddle Steamers must have included just a few (maybe the most relevant) sketches then, as it's only a few pages in the whole book... interesting to see even just those though as it clarify's certain details that can be seen on photos but not always clearly enough to figure out exactly how 'things have been done' as it were (eg. the 'cradles for mast lights' wish I'd seen that before making the masts for one of my models!)
