Help!! Wiring, controllers, batteries...
« on: February 01, 2009, 01:57:12 AM »
Hello all

Me and my Dad have been trying to figure out how the model of KC we've just bought wires up. She has a speed controller (I think...) in her and a steering motor with lots of confusing wires. It has an electronize 43VR speed controller in it. Can anyone tell me how we should wire it up or know anyone in the South who might be able to help?

Jack.

A picture is worth a thousand words, can you post some shots? How many moters does it have? What type and size of battery?

Gerald

Ok

The one nearest the yellow pin (the yellow, black and red wire) is connected to the steering

If you need anymore I can take some.

Jack.

I assume you have some radio gear Jack, ie. a Transmitter and Receiver? If so, how many channels is it?

The ESC (Electronic Speed Control) has four wires, red, black, blue and yellow - The RED wire goes to the POSITIVE terminal of the battery, the BLACK wire goes to the NEGATIVE terminal of the battery. The YELLOW and BLUE leads go to the motor - These can be connected either way round, it won't make any difference..... If the motor turns the wrong way, simply reverse the YELLOW and BLUE leads.

The small plug with three leads goes to your reciever - If it's 4 channels or more it goes into channel three, if it's two channels it goes into channel two.

The rudder servo lead (again the one with a small plug and three leads) goes to the receiver in channel one...

Hope that helps?

Regards
Eddy

P.S. The best advice I can give is to join a local model boat club, they will guide you through all this... it's MUCH easier to see these things done in real life rather than trying to understand written instructions with the danger of getting it wrong!

Thanks Eddy

Tomorrow I'm going down to Ryde Boating Lake as a group are having a sail...I'll ask around there.

Next Saturday the Isle of Wight Model Engineers are having their monthly 'Steam Up and Sail'. They have a boating lake as well as a live steam railway, so I will take KC and see if anyone can help or do it for me!

Jack.
