I took this one at Marlo, part of the escort fleet for PS Curlip on Sat.29.11. It was also out and about on Sunday.
It is a wooden hull, fitted with a wooden seat, and wooden pedals and gears. These two components lift out when the boat is carried on a car rooftop.
It uses a prop, but nothing would stop paddlewheels being used.
The prop was metal, and I suspect that the shaft from the gears to it was also metal.
The boat can do 7 km/h in still water, and so can make headway against any current less severe. On Sunday it was being blown backwards and sideways, but then came forwards against the wind and tide quite ok.
Possibly it is a kit design.
