L'il' Sipp' [Australia]
« on: November 10, 2008, 08:44:57 PM »
Triggered by Eddy's search for a steam launch, here is some extra detail on PV L'il' Sipp' (mentioned in other threads already), obtained by Paddleducker Mike Smith at the Mar.07 Goolwa Wooden Boat Festival.
Mike encloses three photos.  The photo of the entrant details on the canopy reads:
Lil Sipp, of Pompoota SA
Owned and Crewed by  Neil and Dianne Burbidge
Built - Not Known
Builder/Designer - Not Known
Length 4.0 m
Beam 2.2 m
Draft 0.35 m
Construction - Wood
Powered by - Honda 13hp 4-stroke petrol
Past Owner - A Heading
Details
An old wooden hull of uncertain parentage converted to a paddler c2000 by Allan Heading at Woods Point SA. An old lawn mower engine and a Datsun differential were placed forward of centre (to give some room) as copied from PS Eva (sunk at Murray Bridge). Purchased by current owners in 2004 and after minor upgrades cruised from Wellington to Walkers Flat.

It proves that Grebe is very possible- The idea of the engine in the front is also very good- but would it cause ballast issues?

Grebe is a metre shorter, but similar in design, actually very similar in design.

We shall have to see what the New Year brings for Grebe.

Does the owner have a trailer? Does he remove wheels etc?
