PS Delta Queen cruise (USA)
« on: April 15, 2008, 03:51:43 PM »
The website www.majesticamericaline.com now shows an active campaign for preservation on the former basis.

I don't know why they are bothering.  The operating company is noxious.  I have had continuing trouble with Majestic America Line, mainly over three policies:
* No part cruise bookings
* No share with a stranger
* No direct communication; everything runs via an agent with lots of delays, as all the agent can do is contact the company and wait for a response.

I am holding a single reservation for the 5 night 5.5-10.5 Cincinatti - Pittsburgh cruise, quoted at USD1899 (plus some sneaky port taxes not advertised) twin share, but outrageous for single.  If anyone is able to join, with rock-solid certainty, at this short notice I will strain a lot of aspects to be there and aboard.  Otherwise I am cancelling.  I have a confirmed July in Java tour (mainly train, but some ferry).
Failing that, I have put in a request for the final cruise, 7 night 31.10-7.11 Memphis - New Orleans, USD2299 twin share.  This would be far easier to organise, but availablity is not yet confirmed.

Please pm if you are tempted by either, and likely/firm as a prospect.

The only other cruise which has been harder to organise was Bill's Lena River paddlesteamer, where the company wouldn't reply at all.
