Kitchen Ranges Oil Fired - Any Experiences
« on: January 16, 2008, 10:02:48 AM »
Well chaps and chapesses, we are considering the installation of a Kitchen range, oil fired from the stable of the reknowned Aga - Rayburn company. They are now all built by Aga. The Agas do domestic hot water / cooking whereas the Rayburn can do cooking / domestic hot water and central heating.

The predicament we are in is the house is 30 years old and has electric night storage (on economy tarriff) / wall panel heaters (which are not on economy tarriff) and supplementary mobile electric heaters. This is proving an unviable option as the heat wasted is incredible. As a friend has said "I've never paid so much to be so cold in a winter"

We are looking to install an oil fired system and at present are trying to establish from those of you with personal experience which if any is the better option. If necessary we are prepared to put in a dual sysytem of oil for the, yet to be installed, central heating and  bottled gas / electric range for cooking. Any thoughts on this would be greatly appreciated.

cheers

Jim

Hi Jim,

One of my Aunts had an oil fired AGA, and although it was very good at what it did, the cost of running it was a total joke! These things drink fuel oil like it's going out of fashion!!

My advice - Think of a different solution!
~ Never, ever, argue with an idiot. They'll drag you down to their level and beat you with experience ~
