:oops  :shoot  :thinking

Hi Pd's,

Malcolm say's
Quote

I think it looks better in the photo than in real life. It is Vic Smeed's River Queen design. I have to admit to not building the hull - mine came off very second best in an argument with the up-and-over garage door! Cyril Spurrier had built two hulls took pity on me and gave me this one on condition that I fit a "scale lookihg" plant in it.
Moving on to the filling valve, it was made over 25 years ago, and it may take some time to find the drawing. In any case, I think a new thread may be in order - I can see this going well off Bunkerbarges original thread.

Yes... garage doors are not very considerate of other peoples efforts are they.

Which brings me to the New Thread title...... You are quite correct Malcolm... the content was getting a bit off thread, my fault... not paying enough attention to the direction.

I am now going into the corner to write out 100 times...
'Think thread direction before posting' :thinking  :oops :nono

My apologies to Bunkerbarge for the error of my ways. :respect  :respect2

' I didn't mean it me Lud... it just sort of appened...Honest'  :hammer

It is a good example of just how easy it is for a thread to get side-tracked.

I agree, a new thread is in order for any further discussion on the subject, or indeed, for your proposed info on your engine/steam items builds Malcolm.

Do I see one of your combined gas regulators/burner level control valves in your first picture?

OK...into the corner wiv me pencil......

Best regards.

Sandy.  :(  :(  :(  :ohno

Well Sandy  it might look like one of those combined regulator/gas control valves, but it isn't quite that. The regulator is in fact combined with the main gas valve and sits on top of the gas cannister (not shown here). The block in the photo has three elements - on the right is the is the bit that turns the gas down when full boiler pressure is reached, in the centre is a control that shuts the gas off if the pressure drops below about 5psi i.e. probably running out of water, and on the left is a by-pass for the low pressure bit so the fire can be lit. But you do have to remember to shut that when working pressure is reached.

OK PD's ...my turn in the corner :sorry ...I posted a note to Nick @ Monaghan models last evening questioning his new trade secret in bronze/brass materials as used in the Heron engine

Went through my  :computer today & the latest record of a new composite brass/bronze material is dated as year 1962

I am not at liberty to confirm the chemical composition of the material as it would contravene my discharge from the Department of Defence [Navy]....however  :thinking ...... :rant ... 1/4 of 1% reduction in sulphur & 1/20000th of a %  increase in the rare element  ZEON & there you have it....the real trick was to suspend the ZEON as a gas into solid form but :shhh

BS wopplywop.....= LG2  with a few natural trace elements equalling 0.0009% of the deminishing ZEON radical.... :terrific......

Having confirmed this PD's......I still view the Heron engine as a true quality component

Thats an interesting snap PD's....but what is wrong :?:

1) dilligent horizontal borer machinest dosn't have his safety glasses on :oops

2) the journal nearest the operator is balanced of two fox wedges

3) the journal nearest the operator has about 6" on diameter to go

4) so even if the crank journal is 4 tonne...wouldn't you think they would dog or chain it down  :hammer
