Portable steam-engine photos
« on: November 19, 2006, 01:04:41 PM »
This was posted by Chris in a different Paddleducks forum, but not everyone in this forum may subscribe to that one: photos from Echuca Heritage Festival: http://chrisriverpix.fotopic.net/

He has a range of views of portable engines, traction engines and steamrollers, plus several of paddlesteamers.

Historically, Australian paddlesteamers tended to use the same boilers and engines as were built for stationary and road applications.  Marshall (of Gainsborough?, UK) had a strong presence.  Now, restorations and new builds rely on these sources.

Great work Chris!! I love the photos!!
The paddle steamers were sometimes powered by portable steam engines, or even the traction engines without wheels and connected to the paddles weren't they?
