A late announcement, OOPS sorry guys  :  , the chat we had last Thursday was severely interrupted by the server going on a go-slow.  In the meantime the link to the chatroom has been removed. This is very unfortunate but it was considered better than losing the whole lot if the company who provide the server were to identify the problem as having arisen in Paddleducks.  :shock:

On a point of consolation we have investigated the web service provided by www.skype.co.uk and found it to be very good. Basically they want you to use their service to make internet - internet calls or internet - land line calls even international and be a LOT cheaper than the ususal culprits    The real bonus is the ability to make person -person chat and group conference chats for free   . Now this really appeals to me and after using the conference chat, we all found it to be very good and easy to read, and even more importantly, to use. All you have to do is know someones e-mail address or their log-on name within Skype and add them to your contacts list. My log-on is :-   Jim Beattie (RedHamish)

The real beauty is the simplicity of seeing who is also on-line when you are too and not being held to the hard and fast weekly chat. We hope to see you on their at some time.  :wink:

You can download Skype from http://www.skype.com/intl/en-gb/download/ Derek.

Install it onto your computer - it only takes a couple of minutes, and then you can use it to have an online chat with anyone you wish, even group chats as we did last thursday evening. You only need to know the users email address or Skype handle to invite them into a chat if they are online...

The old chat software was just getting too flakey to be usable any more, so it was time for it to go... Skype does a superb job of replacing it without all the annoying bugs that we were experiencing with Flashchat.
