Newbie Riverboat project. BERTIE

I haven't yet begun the building.still in study phase. But here goes. Riversteamer sidewheeler, 68'x 14' BERTIE powered by 6x12 single cylinder engine inclined, cylinder on keel. Want to build in half inch-to-foot and use steam mounted as original. Built in Windsor, NC November 1872. Ran from W. to Plymouth NC, ran daily freight, mail and passengers. Cashie and Roanoke rivers, Albemarle Sound area in Northeast NC. Hull was flat bottom, pointed bow and round stern.  Thinking POB, powered by half inch bore with inch stroke single cylinder,DA. DAK of valve to reverse intake/exhaust as means to reverse a radio controlled setup? I've played with oscillators but this would be first project. Also have a FRP hull of SEGUIN that I want to do with a two cylinder upright later on but got sidetracked by this local interest. I live in house also built in 1872 by the builder of the BERTIE, Captain Lafayette Thrower. For you historians, yes he captained the blockade runner ALICE during the War for Southern Independence aka Civil War, mining the Roanoke River to protect the Elliott Shipyard near Halifax but that's another exploit. Let me hear from you. Harvey in NC :D
