Yarmouth Belle????
« on: October 26, 2008, 12:35:07 PM »
I was just looking at the national historic ships website (linked in another topic) and decided to do a quick search of paddle vessels...all the ones you'd expect to see (J H Amos, Lincoln Castle, etc) show up... and Yarmouth Belle. It says the vessel was originally built as a paddler in 1892!  Converted to diesel in 1947 (and I assume to screw propulsion too at that time)
I never knew that  :o
The boat now has freewheeling dummy paddlewheels about a foot wide that look too narrow and flimsy to really power it, and fairly large rectangular windows where the engine/boiler room shoud be...but even so, I had no idea this was another surviving paddler!
