The "Steamboats!" web site

Steamboats.com at: http://www.steamboats.com/ came online in 1998 to document the history of the campaign to save the Delta Queen Steamboat. The Delta Queen was threatened with extinction when the U.S. Congress passed "Safety at Sea" legislation in 1966 that would outlaw overnight cruises on boats made of wood. The Delta Queen is a wooden vessel from the water up, but corporate executives got legal exemptions that have allowed her to continue to operate to this day. William Muster was one of the people who saved the Delta Queen, and his daughter, Nori, built the web site. In addition to the Delta Queen history, Nori has posted hundreds of photos donated by the steamboat community and a link collection that covers related topics. Most visitors to the web site are students doing reports, or people researching family-trees with historical steamboat connections.
