Credit cards

I suppose most of us now use credit cards, especially as modellers, since so many companies we deal with are on the net and it's just so much easier to order online....

I got a letter from my credit card company this morning, informing me that my credit limit had been increased from £1600 to £3000 UK pounds.

Why??? I didn't ask for (or want) the increase, and If I ran up £1600 of debt I couldn't afford to repay it, let alone £3000!

I sometimes wonder if these companies live on the same planet as us mere mortals? They already know I'm long term unemployed because of health problems, I told them that when I first applied for my credit card, so just where do they think the money would come from to repay a £3000 debt?

Absolutely nothing to do with paddlers - But I was totally bemused by the letter! :-)

Couldn't agree more Eddy. The more you owe a bank the more they want to lend you!

It's hardly surprising that personal debt levels are climbing into the stratosphere in the western world. Totally off topic but a legitimate concern!

Hi chaps, I totally agree with you Eddy the banks are mad in increasing the limits without due consideration for the card holder. I personally have not had a credit card (through choice) for 7 years and have managed fine without one. Now with debit cards being able to transact Visa or Mastercard sales I doubt if I'll ever want (or need) to have a Credit Card again. This recent development also allows us the same access to international transactions with a small fee. Great now I can get some American things while the exchange rate is in our favour LOL

I've got all kinds and types of credit cards. I keep them to use a squee gees when I'm spreading resin on my hulls. They become interest free that way. LOLOLOLOL
