This is not a wind up, there where actually two Paddlewheel Aircraft Carriers, which were used during WW2 for training American Pilots. They were converted from original paddle steamers.

If you would like to see an excellent model of one of them USS Wolverine visit this website.

www.modelwarships.com

From the list on the Home Page, left hand side, click on Feature Articles, then look for USS Wolverine. You will be amazed at this beatiful model in 1/72 scale. It is not R/C but an exhibition model.

Welcome to Paddleducks Victorious, nice to have you with us...

What an absolutely fantastic model! A shame it isn't working R/C though...

Still definately well worth a look, especially for anyone interested in Paddlewheel warships. The USS Wolverine and Sable are unique, and would certainly make a very different working model.

Thank you Eddy, I'm glad you found the Wolverine interesting. I post mainly on Warships .com, as there are quite a few large scale builds going on at the moment.

I would like to have a go at scratchbuilding a Paddle Steamer some day, maybe the Waverly or one of the Isle of Man boats, but I will be a couple of years building the Marlborough, then it's the carrier Victorious, which will probaly take three years at least.

There are plenty of paddler warships Victorious - Lots of them were used in minesweeping roles during WWII, then theres Wolverine and Sable as aircraft carriers (as you already know), and dozens of vessels used in the American civil war as blockade runners etc.

So warships and paddlers can go together! I'm probably a little biased, but forget the "normal" warships, build a PADDLER! :-)
