There was a nice article in the Mebourne Age ( Saturday March 13 2004, in the
Travel section regarding the the newly refurbished AVOCA paddling out of
Mildura, VIC as a floating ( best way for a boat!) restaurant & bar.

P.S AVOCA
=========
built : 1877, Milang
dimensions : 33.9m x 6.5m x 1.8m
structure : iron frame, red gum timber planking, timber superstructure

power : originaly steam, currently distillate (diesel)

since built has had a varied working life : worked the river until 1891,
moved to Adelaide to service the loading of off-shore wheat
sailing ships, returned to Murray in 1922, thence to Mildura in 1976.

current owners figure she has had over 30 different superstructure versions
in her eventful career !

One of the few australian paddle boats that has been in continious service
since launching.

(many boats have been built, worked, abused, laided up , sunk, and then
resurected :-)
