Topside paint on Oz paddlers

Hi all PD's & one question here to Peter@froggy>> is "how did you paint the topside roof sections
of your PS Pevensey"? - "they seem to be an off black/brown finish which looks great" & looks
like [I assume] some sort of weathered tar based original finish to keep our OZ drops from the sky out

For Decoy I have tried matt black, matt green [both from Bunnings Hardware as chalk board spray paint]
& also red primer from Dupli-Colour [automotive] , but each of the three [individually] look too stark

Some time back, we looked at the real Oscar W at Goolwa and she appeared to have green canvas
[cabin] topsides coated with bird droppings & black cinders from the boiler

Most interested in your comments Peter, & a response back to Dai - no I am not permitted to use spray
paint in the bath - Derek

Hi Derek,
My cabin tops on Pevensey (as she is just out of the yard)are
simply grey primer at this stage she is due a coat of bitumenised
black w/proofing but will have to wait a short time to aquire the
bird droppings and soot stains from the "funnel"........Dai
P.S. I am not allowed to have either spray paint or bitumen black in
my bath, my Blanche would object strongly..........Dai

Derek,
Forget your cans of paint, the roof of the Pevensey is 1/16 balsa heavily doped
and then I glued some 400 grit wet & dry over it which I also get from Bunnings along
with the balsa an 6mm dowells whenever I need it.
