Dear fellow paddleducks,

Has anyone out there built an authentic wooden model of the Harriet
Lane. I know that the most popular kit has discontinued due to it's
inaccauracy. I have done a lot of research on this ship, including
Porter's memoriors, the Smithsonian, the Naval records of the Wr of
the Rebellion, and Donald Canney, book. I want to build a model of
her as a member of Porter's squadron that took Forts Philip and
Jackson at the mouth of the Mississippi. I believe she was commanded
by Wainright( or that may have been at Galveston) and was Porter's
flagship when the forts surrended securing the Mississippi River for
the Union. Any information would be appreciated. Also, has anyone
heard of a British Civil-War era ship by the name of "Cyclops"? She
allegedly was a transport to the blockade runners out of Wilmington,
NC.

Thanks,

Charles Ward
