Title: Elbe paddler book
Post by: Alistair Deayton on June 17, 2005, 09:35:57 PM
I have recently been looking through a book I got earlier in the year.
"Raddampfer auf der Niederelbe"- Paddle Steamers on the Lower Elbe
This is a book of paintings of all, or most of the paddle steamers which
have sailed on the Elbe downstream from 1814 to the early 1960s from Hamburg
and in Hamburg local services. Each ship, a totla of 50, has a painting, a
profile, and basic data. There is some historical text, but the paintings
are the highlight of the book.
Paul, there is one of the Paris of 1875 which ran as the Falmingo on the
Elbe and ended her days in Scotland for MacBraynes as the Glendale.
A good German on-line bookshop, www.amazon.de or www.bol.de whould be able
to supply it. The ISBN is 393461334-9
