Hello all,
Today I received the info material from Authentic Editions in
Worcestershire, UK. I promised to forward the paddler related info to the
Paddleducks group. So here we go:
Judging by the small color reproductions in their brochure, all prints
available are completely clean and of highest quality.
Authentic Editions have a print showing two colored John Scott Russell plans
(as designed): outside full starboard view and longitudinal section. The
Print size is 34" x 16" (965 x 508mm). The GE plans are very beautiful and
show the hull plating in nice detail. Since the plans are "as designed" as
opposed to "as built" there are quite some differences: The paddle box
cutout pattern (they were slightly larger, slightly rounded near the center
and the lower two cutouts were almost horizontal), the sponson railing which
didn't exist on the real GE, the steam launches that didn't come to be
hanging aft of the sponsons, the funnel colors (gray/buff with black (dark
gray?) caps and bottoms, light blue paddle box tops, the white horizontal
stripe that was applied only for her maiden voyage to NYC in 1860 together
with the transom scrollwork and some other minor differences to the "as
built" version. I also noticed the absence of the stern hawser holes.
I don't mean to criticise the prints (they seem impeccable), I just point
out the differences for the GE modeler/researcher.
They ask for the unframed GE plans 26,95 Pounds and framed 62,50 Pounds.
Shipping and handling (post and package) to overseas is 2 Pounds per item.
Further color prints of interest are:
