This is for Bryant and Chris and anyone else fascinated by those
little Canadian logging critturs!
Bryant sent me some excellent images which he would like to share, so
I've put them up in our files server. They can be seen at:

These are extremely interesting images as one of them clearly shows
the tug warping itself over land and another one shows an enormous
locomotive type headlamp probably used for night operations.
The images which Bryant sent are:

Now...for some news. I happewnned across another Alligator Addist in
Ontario Canada over the wekend and he's a very knowledgable guy. He
told me that actually the correct terms for these boats are..OVER 25'
they're called a "Warping Tug" and UNDER 25' they're called a "Winch
boat".
In a book I found in our local library called "Northern Steamboats"
(of Canada) my eyes nearly popped out when I saw two pictures of
enormous Alligators, in fact almost 80' long...which is double the
size of the ones I've seen previously. I have posted a picture in
the files server so you can take a look. The boat is called "DOKIS"
and was one of many Alligators owned and operated by the Abitibi Pulp
and Energy Company of Canada.
Tomorrow I am spending the evening with a "Gator guru" here in
Victoria whom I have pursuaded to build a fully operating
R/C "Alligator" model. He has already built five of them which have
all been donated to museums. We are going to go all through his
references, photographs and plans and I'll give an update if anything
interesting comes up.
