I would like to see a member's index with info like email contact, models they have, type of models interested in building, personal web site, and especially their location.
I monitor a lot of forums and when questions come up about looking for suppliers in a certain area I'd like to refer to the member's list to know what area of the world they're in instead of having to post a note asking where they're located. Plus it gives people that travel around a bit, a chance to contact a person if they're going to be near their area about a possible visit. I don't know how many times people had passed near me only to find out once they got home they could have stopped by.
With the models info, a person interested in building a simuliar vessel that someone else has built, could ask them questions about the model or building tips. Besides, isn't that what these forums are all about. It's not like it's a big covert spy operation. It's about sharing ideas and helping others.
OH, if only more modelers were politicians!

Politicians....hmmmm then we would get alot of pay! You're idea is good though!
-
We can put most of that information in our profiles can't we?
-
I think we might be able to
-
I agree with Joe wholeheartedly! It would be so much nicer if people put their location etc into their user profile. It makes for a much friendlier atmosphere when you know where people are from!
Unfortunately there's no way I can FORCE people to enter that information, but once you've registered, why not think of adding it to your profile? We aren't asking for full postal addresses and phone numbers! Just your home town and country will do.
So please, please think about it guys - It will help us all in the end.
