Title: Model ships used in making movies
Post by: Walter Snowdon on March 24, 2021, 04:19:43 AM
Just discovered this web site.Modelshipsinthecinema.com. It has loads of still photographs taken from movies going back years of ship models used in movies where full size ships were unavailable. only just looked at a couple of films but it looks very promising. Regards, walter.

Actually, if you check the index on the right there are many entries grouped by year/month. From the short excursion I made the range and content are extremely comprehensive.

Take this example ('20,000 Leagues under the Sea', a childhood and continuing favourite of mine)

http://www.modelshipsinthecinema.com/2011/10/20000-leagues-under-sea-1954.html

It includes a drawing of the 'Nautilus' and even photos of the other ships used, including the paddler from 'Rulers of the Sea' recycled!
