Title: Hulls?

Hi all,

Just wondering if any of you would be interested in posting articles on building hulls?

Perhaps bread and butter construction, planked hulls, glass fibre, papier mache, styrene, gumstrip (does anyone remember gumstrip?) etc etc.... I'm sure there are lots more?

Would anyone like to take up the challenge and post an in depth article to explain the various methods?

I have been building and flying RC airplanes since my retirement several years ago.  I researched and started building my first boat, a paddlewheel towboat last March as a Covid project.  I’ve started my second boat, another paddler, as my winter Covid project.  Both my boats have very basic “barge” type hulls so I would be very interested in learning how to make a “proper” hull.  I joined the local radio control model boat club hoping to learn more, but our meetings have been shut down since September so I’m just working away, building things my own way for now.

Thank you @Barry for the articles.  I'm also someone with primarily RC Aircraft experience, and most of my ship building to date has been kits with vacuformed hulls.  So, seeing some other hull building techniques "in action" is very helpful. 

I'm doing volunteer work at a local educational non-profit, ho are kind enough to give me occasional access to their laser cutter, so I can quickly cut parts from plans.  But, the techniques for assembling them properly are still a weak spot for me.
