180626Tu-Melbourne'HeraldSun'-PS_Gondola-PrincesBridge-~1854
This was the first passenger ferry on Yarra River upstream from the centre of Melbourne.
It was built in 1854, and plied between the city centre and pleasure gardens built at Cremorne.
The photo shows it at its moorings, with the second Princes Bridge in the background, and the commercial shipping wharves in the distance.
As printed in the newspaper, the photo had been colourised. There is considerable outrage in history circles about the honesty of that, and of creating fake history.
I have taken it back to b&w.
