I have been looking for some kind of box that I can pop a servo into and have the box fastened to the boat. That way I can easily change or remove the servo.
But it seems that I am asking too much!
No matter where I look I can't find anything suitable.
Does anyone know where I might find such a thing?
I would have thought in the days of 3D printers it would not be difficult to make.

A small plastic kitchen container or if small servos a plastic pill box just heading to bed 11-30pm here I'll take a pic in the morning

they measure 70mm/2 3/4" x 54mm/2 1/8" x 30mm/1 3/16" high.
The bottom is firmer than the top.

Thanks for that, but its not quite what I want.
I need an open topped box which a servo will snugly fit into, maybe half to two thirds the height of the servo.
That way I can stick the box to the model so that I can easily remove and replace the servo.
I hate having to stick servos to the model with double sided tape etc. When you do remove them, you have all that gunge to remove too before you can replace the servo, and you never get it back in exactly the same positon.
Surely, in these days of 3D printers, someone has already done this.

Then I'd suggest making your box from balsa and ply lined with firm foam around 3mm thick.

You are correct......a number of modellers have manufactured 3D printed Servo Holders ......why not research posts by member IKB on Model Mayhem.........from memory ......he has manufactured these to suit his specific needs
A number of French model builders have also completed these same tasks...you may need to broaden your search
requests....
In this day of the Internet, nothing comes to those who don't look :nono

Thats exactly what I'm after Derek. I knew someone would have done it.
But you are quite correct, it's not what you search for, but how!
Thanks a lot.

Here is a link to a French model boat builder who also manufacturers his own 3D printed servo holders......it is a long thread but well worth reading all pages :no1b ..the 3D work is about page 13....

Here is an example of his work............Derek

Custom build it from old cd case plastic waste. It's easy to cut and glue with poly cement. You will get the snug fit you are looking for.
I use this material for all sorts of things....model ship bases, paddle wheel floats, crystal radio case components etc.
