Hi friends and neighbors,
mid of June I visited the big Rhine paddlesteamer "Oscar Huber", built 1921/22, in Duisburg harbour. Converted to oil firing in the mid of 1950-tis, she was in use as paddle tug until 1966. Until 1971 she made some excursions with passengers, but it was too expensive to maintain her as active steamship.
Since this thime she is a static museum ship, rather well maintained. The 3 cylinder compound engine developes 1550 hp. After the conversion of oil firing she got 2 big boilers, before there were 4 coal fired boilers.
She would be an interesting model...
