Title: Paddleboat kits
Post by: G Mason on June 14, 2005, 06:10:03 PM
Hi Jerry,
I didn't see any other replies on list but you may have had one or more
private replies. Let me know if you still need an instruction sheet copy and
I will see if I can
1. Find which box my kit is stored in, and
2. See if I can use this scanner.
The Ideal, Revell and Pyro/Lindberg/Life Like are three different kits, see
below.

The following list of paddler models is by no means meant to be difinitive
so please anyone/everyone feel free to add to it, it is only my (mainly
unbuilt) humble collection but should serve as a starting point at least.

NO. NAME, MEDIA, SCALE, LENGTH mm, MAKER, TYPE
01. Adelaide, Card, 1/87, 270, LJ Models, Side.
02. Clermont, Plastic, ?, 450, Lindberg, Side.
03. Columbia Gorge, Paper, ?, 300, Collective Maritime Replicas, Stern.
04. Creole Queen, Vacform Plastic, ?, 370, Dumas, Stern.
05. Delta Queen, Wood, ?, 250, Woodkrafter, Stern.
06. Grand Romance, Card, 1/144, 285, Grand Romance Inc, Side.
07. King of the Mississippi, Wood, 1/50, 680, Artesania Latina, Stern.
08. Mississippi, Wood, 1/206, 240, Mini Mamoli, Stern.
09. Mississippi, Card, 1/100, 560, Schreiber, Side.
10. Mississippi Queen, Plastic, 1/271, 332, Revell, Side. *
11. Pevensey, Card, 1/87, 400, LJ Models, Side.
12. Natchez, Plastic, 1/163, 560, Life Like, Side. **
13. River Boat, Matchstick, ?, 300, Match Master, Stern.
14. Robert E. Lee, Plastic, 1/326, 280, Ideal, Side.
15. Robert E. Lee, Plastic, 1/271, 332, Revell, Side. *
16. Robert E. Lee, Plastic, 1/163, 560, Lindberg, Side. **
17. Robert E. Lee, Wood, 1/139, 620, Scientific, Stern.
18. Southern Belle, Plastic, 1/64, Lindberg, Stern.

* The Revell Mississippi Queen and Robert E. Lee are the same kit with
different embossed names on the paddleboxes.

** The Life Like Natchez and Lindberg Robert E. Lee are the same kit with
different embossed names on the paddleboxes.

There is also a 3-D jigsaw puzzle of a paddler that I must chase up, anyone
attempted this one?

Hope this helps, happy modelling,
Graham Mason (Australia)

PS. The Murray River Paddleboat "rally/floatilla/race/whatever it was"
finally ended last weekend in South Australia with no more press coverage
than when they reached Echuca. At least this time we got to see Adelaide and
Pevensey on the TV, there were no reported casualties from the 100 plus
fleet.

FANTASTIC Graham!!!

Damn..I should have asked you guys BEFORE I went hunting through the
Internet...you've listed everything i found and MORE..well done.. I'm
going to put these into our "kits" area in the files server.

> * The Revell Mississippi Queen and Robert E. Lee are the same kit
>with different embossed names on the paddleboxes.

hahahaha..you just confirmed my suspicion..I even visited our local
Hobby store today and found the "Mississippi Queen" kit (50 bucks
Canadian if you don't mind!!)and she looked awfully like the "Lee"

> The Life Like Natchez and Lindberg Robert E. Lee are the same kit

More creative marketing I was unaware of.

A couple to add to the list:

Revell's "Great Eastern" (which I have managed to pick up and would
LOVE to try motorizing!!!
Airfix's 1:144 "Great Western"
I believe there's a Lindberg "Southern Belle" but can;t find any info
on it.

Havn't seen this one, but I hope it's easier than the "Taj Mahal" 3-D
puzzle I gave my wife which is still lying untouched in the
closet...the PUZZLE..! not my WIFE !

Somebody MUST have made a video of this event didnt they? Well if it
happens next year too, we'll find out earlier and hold a Paddleducks
convention in Echuca!!!

Thanks again for all the kit info, Graham...

So who wants to come shopping at EBAY?? If you see SNIPER90
bidding..back off.. THAT's ME!!! hehehehe

Number 16..Stern?

Okay Graham. I found another "R. E. Lee" on Ebay and I've never heard
of this one so I wonder whose mould is this from.
Here is the description:

Vintage Mississippi Steamboat Robt. E. Lee by Ringo Authentic Models
#c-586/100. Collectable Old Kit from "The Race of The Century".

Theres a picture of the boxart here at but no mention of size or
scale.

Hi PJ
I haven't actually seen one of these kits but I do believe both the Ringo
and the Ideal kits are from the same mould.

Stern??? DOH!!! Graham is to stay in after class and write on the board 250
times "THE STEAMBOAT ROBERT E. LEE WAS AT ALL TIMES A MAGNIFICENT AND
MAJESTIC SIDEWHEELER".

Happy modelling,
