Sur la longueur de la coque, a quelle longueur, en moyenne, ce positionne l'axe des roues par rapport à la proue du bateau ?
Prenant une longueur de 10 mètres comme référence, ou positionneriez vous l' axe des roues

In the history of PD's , I do not believe any member has attempted to create a table of average % placement dimensions for the centre axis position :whistle ....would have been a huge task with little reward apart from being a chart of dimensions
Certainly for scale builds of actual paddlers, accurate position of the wheel axis would have been more important

Oui, pour les grandeurs, il doit y avoir une échelle ou une expérience des constructeurs .
Je posais cette interrogation pour pouvoir positionner mon arbre de roues sur une coque modèle ( faisant un mixe de différent bateaux )
Pour la manœuvre de changement de cap, la position longitudinal de l'arbre de roues doit avoir une impotence. En avant ou en arrière du milieu de la coque , l'effort sur le gouvernail et sa réaction doivent être différent .

Yes, for size, there must be a scale or experience of the manufacturers.
I posed this question to be able to position my wheel shaft to a shell model (making a mix of different boats)
In the course change maneuver, the longitudinal position of the wheel shaft must have impotence. Forward or backward from the middle of the hull, the stress on the rudder and its reaction must be different.

Francois, I have 2 scale models of full size ships. Both wheels are centre of the length. I think this was the most popular position. R.G.Y. One of my models here, Forum, Construction page 2, Duke of Devonshire.

There is definetely no general rule. It's more a question how to arrange engine room, boiler room, coal bunkers, freight holds, passenger staterooms and crew quarters inside the hull in a most economic and practical way and, by doing so, to keep the weight distributed evenly.
This again is highly dependent on the boat type, style, and experience of the naval architect. One example: Typical American sidewheel riverboats, with shallow draft and the (heavy) boilers on the front part of the main deck, mostly had the (also heavy) engines and therefore the wheels behind the center, in order to balance the weight. Maybe 2/3 of the length, or similar. Just look at some prototype pictures or plans to get the feeling.
Many European sidewheelers whereas often had boilers and engine room concentrated in the center. But there is no rule without exception!

Pour une idée de ma futur construction , un modèle d'inspiration de ceux du fleuve Murray en Australie , genre Alexander ARBUTHNOT ou Ned KELLY.
En regardent la disposition de leur roues, elles ne seraient pas tout a fais au centre ?
Pour la disposition des aménagements intérieur, comme je part d'une feuille blanche et d'un ensemble vapeur à ma disposition, il n'y a que le choix . :whistle
