Title: P S Westward Ho
Post by: Malcolm on January 26, 2016, 01:14:53 AM
Just picking up construction of my 1/48 "Westward Ho" after delay due to family illness. A query about lifeboats: info I have from Andrew Collier suggests that the boats were 22ft long, but looking at the picture on P 97 of Chris Collard's book "P&A Campbell pleasure steamers 1887-1945" they look to be quite a bit shorter, unless this is a perspective  effect. Has anyone any info?
Any ideas on lifeboat construction would be welcome; I aim to make everything myself.

I have measured the Life Boats on my model of the Glen Usk, one of Campbell's fleet. They come out at 21ft. But I did draw my own plans, so at 22ft you are in the ball park.   A little of how I make clinker bouts hear.       http://www.paddleducks.co.uk/smf/index.php?topic=5011.180
Or the whole process hear.  http://model-boats.com/builds/view/12171/2
I have used thin ply, cardboard & plastic card. But I do favor ply. Geoff

They should be 21ft. Sorry for not spotting this thread and posting earlier.
