Title: New member Introduction
Post by: ScottB on April 02, 2015, 12:01:29 AM
I am a new member of Paddleducks and would like to introduce myself.   My passion is in live steam engines, I have just recently designed and completed a single cylinder double acting self starting oscillating steam engine.   This engine has a 3/8" bore and a 3/4" stroke.   The engine runs very well and will self start every time.  I have built a open Launch boat that I scaled up from the Midwest launch plans to a length of 26"   this engine moves the boat along very well.    I will post some pictures in the near future.   I also  have interests in live steam locomotives and am currently  designing and  building a live steam logging ( climax)  style locomotive in 7/8" scale that will run on gauge 1 track.    I have been active in this hobby for many years and have built quite a few live steam engines and boilers.

Greetings Scott and welcome aboard. Looking forward to seeing some pictures and an explanation of how you get you single cylinder engine to start so reliably. I had been told it was not possible so I look forward to seeing details. Let us see the launch too when you have a moment. Make sure to add a horizontal paddler engine to your list sometime soon too. Cheers, Ian.
