Hi All,
I've only recently stumbled onto this forum and find it most interesting.
I live in Ballarat, Victoria in Australia. I first became interested in modeling paddle boats about thirty years ago when a TV series "All the Rivers Run" based around the Murray River inland harbour of Echuca during the early twentieth century. My model at the time was a "typical representative" of a river paddlesteamer.
As Echuca is only about 3 hours up the road my research consisted of photos taken when opportunity presented. This was electric powered using a "remodeled" laboratory clock as a reduction gearbox.
I've recently purchased a lathe and a milling machine and have started on a Thames steam launch. The engine is of my own design using internet research. It will be a twin cylinder, double acting, oscillating engine.
My next project after this will be a paddlesteamer.
I often have multiple projects on the go as I also restore classic cars and vintage caravans so as I learn on the Thames steamer I may well get onto the paddlesteamer before its completion. I am now retired and have more time for such projects.
Cheers
