Hi, From the time the PD server was relocated I cannot get my system to stay logged in.. Normally I use Firefox (now V33.0) but I have the same problem with I.E.9 (I\'m using Vista so I can\'t go higher).
I\'ve tried deleting the PD cookie and clearing the cache but it\'s no different. Every time I close the browser, when I restart it and go to the PD website I am greeted as a guest. I can log in without difficulty but it\'s a PITA. Of course the dropdown box IS set to \'forever\'. I am also registered on RCMF.co.uk and modelboatmayhem.co.uk which I believe use the same SMF software and I have had no trouble there so I am guessing that the server move has caused a change to some setting or other.
Any suggestions??

PS Another problem - the back slash that appears next to the apostrophes above was not typed by me and does not appear in the type in box. It never used to do that either!!

Hi NoNuFink
No probs here (Vienna) by using IE9 & Vista, also no backslash by using apostrophes. Tried to use G-Chrome??

No I haven\'t tried chrome - I\'ve got enough crap on this system without adding another browser but thanks for the suggestion. On th whole I\'d rather just log in, even if it is a PITA.

No changes here either It is exactly the same site http://www.paddleducks.co.uk/, it's only the host site that's changed I'll ask Damien when I can.
I have had no problems with Chrome browser have used is for several years Damien recently changed us to chrome email and I find it cumbersome and very slow.

I moved to Vista from XP about 6 months ago.
I changed to Google Chrome at the same time....I find it far superior to IE as it cross synchronises to all my Android device applications such as Calendar and Contacts.
But I have stuck with Windows Live Mail.
I have experienced NO difficulties on Paddleducks since the change.

I know that it\'s something at my computer because I can stay logged in from a different incarnation of windows. However it appears that PD is, for some unknown reason, sending me a session cookie (called PHPSESSID) which expires upon closeing the browser (IE or Firefox) I doubt I shall ever know why. :-\\ I\'m not about to do a reinstall just to get around that problem.
If I copy a (non-session) cookie from a working incarnation of windows, then the first time I come to PD I am logged in but the second time I am a guest again and there\'s that session cookie again.
I give up

Damien thinks this may be your problem.
Sounds like his computer date/time or timezone is set wrong
so the cookie which keeps him logged in is expiring as soon as it's sent?
tell him to make sure his timezone is set correctly, and that his date and time is set right
if it's out by too much, it'll cause that problem
Hope this helps matey.

Alas Time, date & timezone (London) all correct. However ther is a small clue.
Firefox has an extension called cookie manager+. This enables backup of cookies. If I backup the PD session cookie, the suggested name is backup_cookies_20140916115325.txt which obviously contains the date and time in reverse order. but the month is 09 ie september.
Now this can\'t be a problem with Firefox or the extension because IE doesn\'t work either but obviously some thing somewhere has got the wrong date.

another reply.
Hmmm months start from 00 in JavaScript so the plugin may just be using JavaScript to generate the filename
