Hi Paddlers.
I have just received the "Dumas", Myrtle cory kit, from cornwall models.
These kits are not easy to come by.
and despite the usual comments about the quality of the wood in these kits,
I found the whole thing to be very reasonable ,considering the price charged,
Well wrapped, inside box, well documented, with plans and advice.
and two choices of build, 1. as a working river boat. 2. as a house boat.
and any colour, as long as it is matt.
Seriously I think that it is good value for money, other peeps
might think differently.
But you takes your pick.
For the sternwheeler lovers amonst us it is worth investigating.
pics on the build will hopefully follow.
But it will take three weeks to study the plans and build advice, first.

Hi.
On further delving into the plans/build log.
I find that the person who designed these instructions, knows what he is about, and that
for an older builder/ novice, they make easy reading.
plenty of materials and should make a pleasant build experience,
I can earnestly recommend this kit, to anyone wanting a stern wheeled river boat,
especially as there appears to be a lot of opportunity to change the build, if one wishes to
put ones own stamp on the boat.
I will not be starting this one yet, but will post a build log when I do.

Hi Again.
On partial assembly of some of the bits. "I am on two builds at the same time.
not recommended I know, but I am impatient.
I am finding that some of the comments about the general quality of the wood to be true,
but it is a matter of, "you get what you pay for".
but overall it is ok.
with "dumas", they cut there motor parts to fit their own motor, so BEWARE, if you try and fit a motor with gearbox,
that the shaft will be 6mm, where by "dumas will fit only a smaller shaft, and unless our drill is super accurate you
will end up with wobbly gear.
the cory is now put away until I have finished the present project.
In order to prevent more cockups !!
