Hi all,
Some good news and some bad news.....
First the bad news. After hosting Paddler Day for the last 6 years, it has been decided that it will no longer be possible to stage the event at Darlington & District MBC. I won't bore everyone with the details, but I can say that everyone at Darlington supported the show fully, even those that didn't really have an interest in paddlers, so it's a great big thank you from me for all their great support over the years!
Now with that in mind, I didn't really want to see the show fade into a long and distant memory, and thankfully it seems as if we may have an alternate venue. I cannot give any more details right now, but it shouldn't be too long before things are finalised. So hopefully there will be good news really soon - I'll update this thread once everything is confirmed.
Regards
Eddy

And now for the Good News.....
I can now confirm that Glasgow Knightswood Model Boat Club will be hosting the Paddler Day from now on!
The 2014 show will take place on Sunday 31st August. David Hume will post full details as they become available...
My sincere thanks to David and his club for taking on the event, it would be sad to see it go, but now it's all stations go!! :)
Regards
Eddy

Thanks for that good news Eddy - I was worried that it would fade into the past. I am more than pleased that paddler day is going to the clyde- the spiritual home of paddlers. You can be sure that I will be there along with several members of the DDMBC. Regards, walter

Further to my last post- I don't use face book or any other new fangled way of communicating- it just complicates life! Would it be possible to post the information contained therein on the paddleducks site?. regards, walter.

It has been confirmed today that the original :respect "Paddleduck" :respect will be attending paddler day at Knightswood :clap No duck feeding will be required, battery will be fully charged although the duck handler may need :coffee

Maybe you could post a few photos of the venue, and give some more details of the facilities etc David?
I'm sure that there are a lot of people from the far flung south (and further afield) that don't know your club or it's waters... Just a suggestion....

VERY IMPORTANT
HI ALL .
With much regret we have to cancel “ Paddleducks 2014 “
This is due a very high level of Blue/Green Algae. In the pond
The Club will try to reschedule for later this year , at no shorter
less notice than 14 day .

Sorry to hear about your algae problems :(. I'm sure we will all try to attend if and when you are able to reschedule. As many regular attenders will know our problem at Darlington & District MBC is weed but we were fortunate in being able to cut it low when Paddler Day was due.

Hello Dave,
This is a great shame as I was really looking forward to it :(
Our club is shut that day due to the concert in the park and I had directed everyone over to the Paddleducks day.
We are having our Charity show the next Sunday so if any Glasgow/Scotland based paddlers want to come along then please feel free to do so.
All the best
Sandy

Hello all,
i am so sorry to hear this, but i am anyway unable to attend this year because of a few unexpected bills to pay, so i keep my fingers crosser for you and the later date.
I hope to see all of you next year.
Best regards Hans.

After the disappointment of the cancellation of Paddler Day 2014, it was nice that some paddler owners managed to make it to the show at Richmond Park on Sunday.
The weather was good and some nice sailing took place.
Thanks to Davie and Robert (and me) from Richmond who brought their Confederate blockade runner, Grey Ghost and Columba respectively.
To Andrew and Allan from the Model Steamer Club who brought their Glen Rosa and Bournemouth Queen. Allan also brought along his Marchioness of Graham to represent the turbine ships.
And to Gavin of the PSPS who came down from Scone and brought his Duchess of Rothesay and Glen Sannox.

Wonderful day out Sandy and fantastic to see the Paddlers sail in formation. I have lot's of video footage and will hopefully post some short films on each individual boat over Autumn/Winter. In the meantime PDs may be interested in the video of the overall Gala Day at Richmond Park. Ruthlessly edited but still nearly 9 minutes long; there was just so much going on in the pond. Lots of Paddlers but, be warned, also contains Fast Electric
