Just started to build a model of this ship after my last forum posting I have now got around to it
details are a little bit sketchy
So far I have gained a load of photographs of the vessel from the net and also by sending a friend of mine who lives in Hartlepool to take pictures of her
Working off the Plan available on flicker I decided to go with a 1/2 "solid sheet bottom, cut to the shape of her double bottom tank top, and consulting with other plans of similar vessels for the stern laminated in solid 1/2" sheet, and bow, balsa wood frames and planking, as per Glynn Guest's methods, Plus a 1/4 inch keel to make the width of 33' right at 1/48, the side plating will be 1/16 balsa all tissue covered and fibre glass resin
Having picked up an old part built PBM paddle steamer off a well known auction site, I came up with the idea of a central box to house the motor and paddle shaft
Will post pictures in due time as I am getting on with the build , and my work bench is fit to be seen
At the minute I am also collecting fittings and part building them, many standard fittings adapted ie, the windlass is a caldercraft unit , but only half built ( one gypsy left off ) to make it similar
Will keep anyone interested informed of the build
