Title: Hi from New Zealand
Post by: steamboatmad on August 27, 2013, 04:32:26 AM
Just stumbled across this site and been reading what's going on.  I'm building a 17 foot steamer and have been toying with the idea of making her a side wheeler!  The hull is complete but with only a little more wood work it could be easily converted to side wheels rather than a prop.  I'll keep reading what other people are doing before I make my mind up for certain.  Cheers.

Welcome,
Side paddlers have a presence all their own, so go for it.
What engine are you planning on using
cheers

Hi Steamboatmad,
That sounds like a great project I hope to see some photos of your work so far.

Cheers

Well just to be different, as if paddles aren't different enough, I was hoping to build a beam engine!  Most of the machinery we have around home is a bit out of the ordinary anyway so why not a nice low revving beam! I can only find one on YouTube so I wonder if there's any others about.
