I have discovered some information for a thread that was running
recently on American Civil War Paddlers. I can't recall seeing these
links mentioned here before but forgive me if they have been.
See http://effectnet.com/opalmer/gallery.htm for digital paintings of
American Civil War boats.
http://www.skytrex.com/ have a range of American Civil War ships in
1/1200 scale including at least 6 paddlewheelers. These are intended
for war games and will be small, a 200' boat scales out at 2", but I
do intend buying some eventually.
I also searched for and found (hiding in the wardrobe)an old issue of
Fine Scale Modeler, Jan '98. It contains an article about Blair
Chicoine's model Mississippi and Missouri river boats. Blair is (or
was) the Director of the Sergeant Floyd Welcome Centre and Riverboat
Museum In Sioux City, Iowa. The photos of his paddlers make me drool
uncontrolably. Anyone know where I could get hold of plans for
paddlers like the Arabia and the Bright Star in article? There is
also a photo of Blair's model of the Union paddle
ironclad "Carondelet". Recommended reading!

Here's a small site mentioning the Gray & Blue Museum in Vicksburg,
MS. I'll be going there June 29 and get some photos of the models on
display there.
