Hi Paddleduckers
I'm Martin Peterson from Norrköping (estern coast about 200 km south of Stockholm) Sweden. I have been a modeler since I was a young kid, now I'm getting middle-aged, will be 40 years old this spring :( . I'm married and proud father of two sons 5 & 8 years old. I work as metrology manager for an automotive supplie.
I got into static ship models four years ago and have built quite a number: Sloup (Corel), Oseberg (Billing Boats), Gladan (Billing boats, Kon-tiki (Mantua), Galley Callmar (Scratch), currently I'm close to finish my first paddleduck: Mississippi 1870 (Sergal). My intention was to radio control it as the sales discription said would be possible. But I sadly learned from this forum that it is impossible to get the model stable in the water. When finalizing the model I realize that Sergal could never have made a R/C version of this outside the drawing table. The rudders with wooden axis running in brass tubes will stick as soon as they get wet, the drive with plywood parts rotating around brass dowels would wear out in a very short time. But I have had a lot of fun building the model and as usual I have improved the kit a bit.
When building Mississippi I fell in love with paddleducks, they are such nice ships. I joined the forum some week ago as I think I will need some advice for my next project will therefore be a scratch build of Eric Nordevall II. Scale will be 1:20 or 1:25, and it will be R/C.

Just for those that don't know the Eric Nordevall II. I've attached a photo of the ship.... I look forward to seeing your model progress, and of course we are here to give any help or advice if you need it.
