Title: New Member in Canada... OcCre Mississippi R/C conversion
Post by: SteamSurge on January 06, 2013, 03:20:02 AM
I'm new here.  I just built a Midwest Launch and built the steam engine and I'm hooked on live steam R/C!

I now have a few projects in the queue... :)
One of which is the OcCre steamboat, which I bought for a steal on the Model Expo site.
I will be using one Graham horizontal engine and a separate engine to power a generator to light it up (if there's room in the hull).

Has anyone converted this kit to R/C and live steam?

Hi,
Welcome to Paddleducks.
OcCre make nice kits, but you may find this kit to be a wee bit small and top heavy for installing working steam without deepening the hull somewhat. I suggest you do some displacement calculations before you proceed much further. Wish you well with your project.
One of my Christmas presents was the Midwest V1 steam engine kit, and Midwest make nice kits. How about showing us some photos of your completed Launch.
cheers

Thanks for the comments. I also assembled the Midwest VI engine and love it. Over the coming weeks, I will add a scratch-build condensation tank, in-line lubricator, and working whistle. The skipper will activate the whistle and steer by remote control.
Will post pictures as soon as the parts arrive.
