Hi forum members.
Just a little about me.
Age 73 coming up 74 retired engineer.
Hobbies:- Static military models.
R/c Boats, mainly scratch build.
R/c tanks 1/16th up to 1/6th scale.
3 1/2", 5" gauge live steam locomotives.
Future project, I am looking to build a Stern Wheeler, so sourcing drawings, photographs etc are the order of the day.
Anything else please ask.

Just my observation.
The moderators request all new members to introduce themselves, and quite rightly so.
It just seems strange to me that forum members are so reluctant to acknowledge new introduction posts.
I’m not wanting any preferential treatment, but having posted the intro no one even says “Hi welcome to our forum“!

you are quite correct in that we should say hi and welcome you to our corner of the web. I have to admit as an administrator i did initially miss your initial post completely and for that i apologise.
Like you I am also into live steam as well as boats. unfortunatly my time as many i am sure is limited to family life as well as my hobbies.

Thanks for the welcome, much appreciated.
My two Loco’s are on shed and have been there for the past eight years, (hopefully one day will be running again on our local track).
My model boats, I mainly scratch build from drawings and photographs.
Tugs, my early days, Tug towing comps. Age, eyesight and Health stopped that.
WW2 Landing craft, (to carry my military models).
Long time ambition to build a paddler.
I like to build the not so modelled type of boat, at present I'm thinking the snag boat (“Uncle Sam’s Tooth Pullers“) operated by the US Army Corps of Engineers, as used along the Mississippi River.

from the other end of the world.
I also missed your post, and sorry for that. Looking forward to the time I can spend my time doing what I love the most, and thats drawing and modeling old boats from a different era.

My interest in the old or unusual started back in 1988 when I first joined a model boat club.
A wealth of information and experience gained then, most members the old time modelling school.
As some would say to me "Have none of that fancy plastic stuff in boxes”. “Draw it and build it yourself ".

Nice choice as the old work boats are often overlooked in favour of the more refined 'public' boats.

is a good way to be, and dear to my heart, as it means more choice of models for those that follow

Welcome...and...off site subject but just wondering what 'static military models' you were into?
My main interest is 19c warships, particularly ironclads and, of course, military paddlers of the period.

The military period I’m interested in is late WW2, particular around the D-Day landings: - armour, vehicles, 1/35th, static. R/c 1/16th and 1/6th scales and R/c landing craft in 1/35th & 1/16th scales. But the 1/16th is restricted to LCM types,
Some of those very early American civil war boats look quite an attractive proposition.
