Hi Everyone,
I am a new member.
I live in Adelaide, South Australia, and my main interests in Paddle Steamers include those on the Murray River (obviously) and the Clyde steamers run by the railways.
I am primarily a railway enthusiast (London & North Eastern Railway) and therefore have a burning passion for any steamer operated by the railway or built for the North British Packet Co. including the cross channel steamers from Harwich and Immingham.
I have joined this group mainly because I want to build a working model of the DEPV Talisman (built 1935 for the LNER) and the PS Marion (steamer used on the Murray River and now restored in Mannum)
I had one great grandfather who was a cook on the PS Marion, another who sailed on the Mauritania and one of my grandfather was a marine chief engineer during WWII.

Making a PS Marion would be hard I think because of her size, if you made one like she originally built would be interesting...I have a photo of the Marion before it was renovated on my wall along with the Pilot- the slowest steamer on the Murray!
Maybe one day when we've both finsihed our models we could race them!
