Title: Paddle Tug Volcano

Lachie Stewart visited today with some info on the Flying Scotsman for 'mogogear'. He left an album of build photographs of the Flying Scotsman and also his part finished Volcano. The photos jogged my memory and I dug up some of the Volcano I took several years ago at Lomond Shores.

As a taster here are my pics of the model as completed so far. When I get time I'll scan in the build pictures and update this thread.

Hi PD's.....great moving images Andy....thank you...& whilst the bow wave is not pronuced ........the visual paddle shaft speed & wash appears high  :whistle .....Derek

Oh dear Derek! :o Are we implying that Lachie's paddlers are all huff and no puff? ::)

I think I recall Andy saying that Lachies are a hybrid's and  run like TBD's :sunglasses

Apologies for delay but have just got around to scanning more from Lachie's album. Have inserted pictures as clickable thumbnails which will bring up the picture in a Photobusket window as I know some people have been having trouble with larger inline images. This is another hull with the bow moulded from a wax former. More pics to follow.

Will pass on the compliment PeeWee.

Rest of photos of hull construction. Lachie has used his wax plug method and the shot of the plaster mould in situ is interesting. He primes the mould then coats with release agent before glassing the inside with the mould in situ. I had always assumed that he moulded the bow then stuck it on but I have recently seen a video he made on the subject. Unfortunately it is on tape and I don't have a digital copy I could put on YouTube.

The final shots in this instalment are of the hull being plated with lithoplate.
