I actually collect and restore steam engines. For a while I have been planning to build a paddle steamer. Like steam trains, I recall traveling to Isle of White (not sure if thats the correct spelling) on the ferry which was a paddle steamer then. Long time ago.
I should probably warn all, that the 'paddle steamer' is unlikely to be the amazing stuff one normally comes across. In fact, it will probably be somewhat post apocalyptic, and fit well into one of those Mad Max movies. The insperation came from something on ebay. To date only the engine and line shaft are completed, well, sort of. I will then construct the rest around that. It will have a rear/stern paddle wheel. The result could have a few options, it could be an instant, and short lived, submarine, or it could just catch fire, or it may just be a tourist attraction. I came across this site whilst looking for some information on Regner parts, and think I may learn how to build the paddle wheel.
I live in Brisbane.
