The 2012 Paddler Day will take place at Darlington & District MBC, at The Waterpark, Middleton-St-George, Near Darlington, County Durham, England, on Sunday 2nd September 2012, between 10am and 5pm....
This is a totally unique event in the modelling calendar, where those who like to model paddlers can show off their models both on and off the water. 2012 will be the fifth year we have staged this event. Even if you don't have a model to display or sail, just come along and chat with the guys sailing their models to see what the fascination with paddlers is - You won't regret it and you'd be very welcome.
As usual, drinks, food, toilet facilities, indoor and outdoor display areas are all available, as well as the bring & buy stall to sell or purchase those odds and ends. 10% commission payable by the seller on all succesful sales...
Models can be dropped off at the lakeside, but we do ask that you then move your vehicle to the carpark, which is only 100yds away, to keep the area clear. Limited disabled parking is available for those with real difficulties, so please ask when you arrive, or pre-book a space by contacting Eddy Matthews at eddy.matthews@paddleducks.co.uk
As in previous years, Clyde Model Boats, who specialise in paddlers, will be there with their wares. Apart from the normal materials, tools, adhesives, fittings etc, they also do a superb range of paddlewheel kits in etched brass and simpler styrene wheels, so if the paddlewheels are the only bit that's stopping you from building a paddler, you now have no excuse! They have released a number of hulls and a range of semi-kits over the last year or so.
Everyone that brings a model paddler to the show will be given a raffle ticket (free), and one will be drawn out of the hat at the end of the day - So bring a model, and be in with a chance to win a prize, absolutely FREE!
At around 4pm there will be a short break for the various awards to be made, Best Model on the Water, Best Steam powered model, and Best novelty paddler. Plus any other prizes or announcements that are deemed necessary.
If you have any further questions about the event, please contact Eddy at the above email address...
Regards
Eddy

As I mentioned earlier, Kim and Susan from Clyde Model Boats will be attending the 2012 Paddler Day, as they have for the last few years.... As always, they will have a show stand and will be bringing a selection of their wares for everyone to view, so bring your wallets! ;)
Kim has kindly donated a hull and a set of drawings for the Marchioness of Lorne paddle steamer, which will be awarded as a prize to one lucky winner at the show. The only stipulation is that you must bring a model to the show in order to be entered into the prize draw.
So yet again, my sincere thanks to Kim and Susan for their continued support!
Regards
Eddy

Eddy,

As there are now only six and a half weeks to go until Paddler Day, I thought I'd ask which members of the website are planning to attend?
The weather is forecast to improve over what we've had so far this year, now that the jet stream has eventually moved north, so with a bit of luck we'll have fine weather!
Regards
Eddy

Oh six weeks? F..... must build faster

Sorry but I must apoligise for my absence at forthcoming paddler day on Sunday.
I am still fighting the big C but don't feel strong enough for model boating, and the wife won't allow me to drive (either boats or Cars!).
Have a good day,
Sandy Thomson.

Batteries charged, first time in 2 years. wife and No1 apprentice have also given me the green light.

-
Hi All,
I was supposed to be heading down today to stay overnight but really didn't fancy staying by myself for all the distance to travel...
Geoff - Best of luck to your team ... as long as you aren't using the spare time to further your fleet for next year ... that's cheating :)
Bob - I started a 24 hour fast in preparation for the superb catering & possible Curry ... I lasted until lunch time .... good intentions and all that....
Sandy - Really good to hear from you and you will be missed!
Hope to see you at the Northeast show next year! All the Best.
Well off to bed to worry about what i will forget ...
See you all tomorrow.
Regards,
Kim
