Title: Glasgow Paddlewheel Tug

Hello folks - I have just joined . I have limited experience in modelling, having one Modelslipway tug to my credit so far. For Christmas, I am to get a Graupner kit for the paddle tug Glasgow. It seems to me that, to have one motor driving both paddlewheels on a single axle, would limit manouverability and I would like to modify the kit so that each paddlewheel is driven independently by it's own motor.
I am sure that I am not the first to think of this, and any tips from those of you who have done it would be greatly appreciated. (not too technical please - remember, I am the new boy)

twin engine paddle drive

Thanks for the info Derek - the searching will help keep my mind off the big box standing in the corner of the front room, which I am not allowed to touch on pain of something apparently worse than death - Geoff

I do not know what your financial condition OR space you have but here is one plan. It is the 1/16th scale Tiger Tank offered on Ebay. I had used it to chase my grandchildren around the yard until my grandson accidentally stepped on it. I then took it apart to see how it ran and are there parts I could use elsewhere. Each track has its own motor and gears running from the same board so one joystick does the driving with 360 degree turns. A person would have to connect each gear to each paddle wheel and the boat will spin. As an addition the boat would have a diesel engine sound, machine gun fire and cannon fire.

If you use E Bay go on Toys and Games sub section tanks you will find plenty of tank motors and gearboxs for sale as many people upgrade their tanks. By using a mixer, you can turn your boat in its own length. John.
