Title: new to paddlers
Post by: model tugman on October 09, 2011, 07:37:56 AM: hello folks I am new to this site and to paddle craft,but have been an avid modeller of tugs for years, I normally build plank on frame scratch built models to 1/24th scale.Ihave been a member of the tug forum for a long time and have over 1000 posts, I have joined this site because I have now been talked into buiding a model of the P S Waverley.
I am thinking of using a hull from Models by designe has anybody used one of these yet?

I have attached a couple of pictures of models from the number that I have made over the years.

I have read and studied your builds on Tug forum & it's great to have you here ... even better that your going to be doing a paddler ... my notebook & sharp pencil are ready..... :)

The only problem with Waverley is that the Original Builders drawing seems to be unobtainable so my suggestion would be collect plenty of photos and careful measuring. On top of this she has had many alterations during her career. ... That said there is plenty of info & pics & some very knowledgeable folks on Paddle duck should you have a question......

There are several builds of Waverley in the construction section ... but I’m sure you have found them already, so won't post links.

Looking forward to seeing her take shape.

Post by: model tugman on October 10, 2011, 09:26:11 PM: Hello Peewee, she was in fact an assurance class built tp 1/32nd scale and she is 50" long and when fully ballasted she weighs 62lb, Bit of a beast , when originally built she had a Cheddar Proteus steam plant but it was not really powerfull enough so she ended up with a BIG 12volt motor. If you look in the download section there is a article by Sandy called Steam and steam engines. Its been a while since I read it, but I think it covered the basics.
