This year....if everything goes according to plan I'll be doing my work experience as a Shipwrights assistant on some Murray River steamers....it's exciting!

It sounds like the chance of a lifetime for someone interested in paddle steamers! Please let us know if it lives to to your expectations - I certainly hope it does!
One of our moderators on the forum, Walter Snowdon, regularly does his bit by helping out as one of the volunteer crew on the PS Waverley (and other boats) here in the UK. Now that it's completed it's last major overhaul, the Waverley has to be one of the best preserved paddlers in the world - It's a magnificent looking ship, and is in better condition now than it was when it was launched. A fantastic tribute to the Paddle Steamer Preservation Society and all their members.

Yes I noticed the pics of the Waverley scattered everywhere and she does look good...although when she's finshed here the PS Hero (once a snagging vessel now a half complete 5 star floating hotel) will be ahrd to beat, excpet by maybe a floating, fully operational PS Gem, the queen of the Murray...look her up, shes like the largest of the Murray River steamers!

Will PS Hero be in operational condition when restored?
Will she have a steam engine?
Or will she just be a statically moored floating hotel?

PS hero will be a fully restored an working steamer with a boiler/engine that is has been remade fromt he original. I've seen the boiler and WOW! The wheels however are on another steamer at echuca so I wonder if they will remove them as Hero doesn't have wheels as of yet. Oh and its a steam engine!
