Hi folks. I'm new to this forum, so I hope I've posted this in the right section! For a future project I'm looking for information on the Woolwich Free ferry paddle steamers that I travelled back and forth across the Thames on as a child. These were 'Gordon', 'John Benn', 'Will Crooks' and 'Squires'. They were built by Samuel White and Co; the first one launchedin 1922 and the last one scrapped in 1962. I've managed to accumulate a number of external photos, but what I need are onboard shots and most particularly of all - plans or layout drawings. I guess this question may have been asked before, but if anyone can help or point me in the right direction, I'd be most grateful. I've sent a request to the National Maritime Museum but so far have not had a response.
Thanks in anticipation,
Geoff (Bodger)

Geoff. Good name that and the right spelling. Welcome to the site quiet at the present all out sailing?
It is possible to build from photos if you have enough. One taken at 90 degree is what is wanted. scan into a drawing program draw around then delete the photo. This will give you the elevation. The dimension can be obtained from Lloyds (at a small cost). This will give you the scale. If you look under construction, Duke of Devonshire you will see how I did it. Geoff aka R.G.Y

Hi Geoff. Good to know there's at least one other member whose parents can spell! Thanks for your comments, but believe it or not I've just located some plans! The National Maritime museum have replied and they can supply a full set. Now, if I can just convince the wife that remortgaging the house to pay for the plans is a good idea..... ;D
