Title: Graupner Glasgow
Post by: Aus1220 on May 08, 2011, 10:01:31 PM
I eventually decided to build the Graupner Glasgow kit as my first paddler.  After much searching on the net and not finding any stockists in Australia I ordered the kit plus the paddle wheel and fittings from Westbourne Hobbies on the 17 April, money took out my account on the 19 April but nothing heard for over a week.  After sending an email they promised to send it on the 24 April, the delay was due to the bank holidays.  Still no word that week and unknown to me my brother, who lives in Dorset, rang them last week they again promised to get it sent out and again blaming the bank holiday for the delay.  I rang them last Thursday (5 May) and again a promise to post the kits that week.

Hopefully I will eventually receive the kits and get started on the build, I have not yet decided on the power plant but it will most likely be electric as I have more experience in RC electrics.

Guess I will have to keep racing the yacht...

Independent paddle control for the Glasgow is being discussed on this site.

Unfortunately your experience is typical of dealing with this company when it comes to exporting. I and two friends have all had the same sort of problems of things being sent when they get around to it (or perhaps it was never in stock and they had to get it in) or the wrong bits being sent and taking ages to sort out any problems.

You could try getting in touch with Rhonda or Adrian at Float a Boat. http://www.floataboat.com.au/shop.htm

Thanks for all your replies although I did not really want to hear what kiwimodeller had to say.  I might have to ask my brother who lives in Poole to go around and have a word with them.  They replied to my emails promptly - until they got paid...
